What women inspire you?
My mother inspires me because of her positive outlook, her ability to bounce back from any situation, and her incredibly giving heart. My best friend Tiffany for her loyalty and beautiful friendship, her brilliant mind, and her ability to be objective. Oprah Winfrey has inspired me for decades; her staying in her truth, her need to learn, and passing on her beliefs to others is very powerful
What do you see as the coolest or most important trend in your industry?
A very cool trend in my industry is the growing need for more natural, non-GMO ingredients and desserts that live in the freezer. This is not only motivating to always fine the best ingredients, but I believe soon will be a necessity.
What are the biggest obstacles you see for young female entrepreneurs?
Some of the obstacles I see for young female entrepreneurs would be worrying about whether certain very successful male business owners will take them seriously. I still feel that women are viewed as not as capable as men, by men, and I look forward to the day when this is totally not an issue. It will happen as more women conquer!
What do you love about being a business owner?
What I love about being a business owner is the incredible vision of where I believe our company can grown sharing the success and growth of our company with our employees. We are nothing without every person’s effort and dedication. I also love being a business owner because my partner and I are in charge!
What’s the hardest part of being a business owner?
The hardest thing about being a business owner is the pressure of having to maneuver all the moving parts. Even when all hands are on deck- the owners have to make quick decisions as well as calculated and strategic decisions. Sometimes it’s one thing at a time, sometimes it’s 15. I have to be OK with this.
What three traits define you?
Passionate, determined, and creative.
If you didn’t have to sleep, what would you do with the extra time?
Instead of sleep, I would be baking and testing more recipes. Nothing makes me happier or more fulfilled than baking.
How do you unwind after a long workday?
To unwind from a long or intense day, I like to take a bath, put on nice lotion and watch Family Feud with my children Lola and Luci. For real!
Fill in the blank:
When I face a challenge, I... look at the scenario from all angels and always know that there is a solution.
If I could go back in time, I would tell myself… that baby steps are actually ok to take, and that I don’t have to make rash decisions.
The one thing I couldn’t live without is… the love of my entire family.
To get my creative juices flowing, I… put on my favorite 70s music and start baking in my kitchen while the kids are at school.
By this time next year, I will be… celebrating the success of Love Bites by Carnie with my partner, employees, my family and friends.
The best thing that happened to me last week was…being able to support a friend who needed my love after they lost their loved on.
