What inspired you to start your business?
Custom Candle was born from a need to find that perfect candle. I needed an eco-friendly, non-toxic, and long-lasting candle that had an aroma that would last long after the candle was extinguished.
What challenges have you faced as a woman entrepreneur and how did you overcome them?
One challenge I faced as a woman entrepreneur was balance. Being a mom and a businesswoman, I had to find a balance for my business life and personal life.
What advice would you give to other women entrepreneurs?
The main piece of advice I would give to other women is do not look back, always look forward and don’t let other people’s negativity change your mind.
What three traits define you?
Confident, humble and consistent.
What women inspire you?
One woman that inspired me was my mom. She taught me to always be kind to others because you never know what someone else is going through.
What do you see as the coolest or most important trend in your industry?
One of the coolest things I see in the industry now is more women becoming entrepreneurs.
As a business owner, what keeps you up at night?
New ideas!
What do you love about being a business owner?
One thing I love about being a business owner is the freedom and the creativity I have.
What’s the hardest part about being a business owner?
The hardest part of being a business owner is you have to work 24/7 — you’re always on call and on the lookout.
How do you define success?
Success for me is the ability to do what I love everyday and having freedom.
What is the best piece of career advice you have ever received?
The best piece of career advice I have received is to never stop believing and always be persistent like a child.
What is your favorite career moment?
One of my favorite career moments was when I was recognized by Westchester Magazine.
If you did not have to sleep, what would you do with the extra time?
If I didn’t have to sleep at night, I would use my time to design, create and open more businesses.
What are you reading or listening to now?
My favorite song I am listening to now is Called This is me, and I am also listening to The Secret. My favorite book I am reading now is Rich Man, Poor Man.
What’s the best way to start your day?
The best way to start off my day is to always be thankful for what I have and the position I am in, also with a cup of coffee.
As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
As child I always wanted to be a fashion designer, because I love to design things and dress up.
How do you unwind after a long workday?
After a long day I take my CBD oil, have a cup of coffee and hang out with a few friends to relax.
What do you like about your workspace?
The ability to be around my team and collaborate with new ideas.
