CEO, Myles Select Ultra Premium Vodka and Jerome Renae Premium Cigars

What inspired you to start your business?

I was inspired to start my own business from my love of vodka. I was a consumer that would walk into a liquor store and try different brands, and I would never find a brand that would make me choose a specific brand as my forever brand of choice for several reasons. One day I told my husband that I wanted to start my own vodka business and he said, let’s do it! I researched everything about the brands that I liked and the things that I didn’t like so that I could come up with a recipe that I would always enjoy. After months of trials and finding the right packaging and formula, Myles Select Ultra Premium Vodka was born.

What advice would you give to other women entrepreneurs?

My advice to other women entrepreneurs would be to research everything that you can about the business that you are pursuing. As a business owner, you represent the brand and you should be the most passionate and knowledgeable about your product and your brand. You should be confident about the vision that you have for your brand and be able to represent the vision in everything that you do at all times.

How has being a WBENC-Certified WBE helped your business?

Being a WBENC-Certified WBE helped me to become a certified vendor for Super Bowl LII 2019 that will be held in Atlanta, Georgia. This is a huge accomplishment to be listed in the Super Bowl vendor list for Myles Select Ultra Premium Vodka, myself and my community. We are overjoyed with the opportunity to be a part of such a huge event. My family, friends and community are excited about this opportunity and we look forward to the exciting events that will be held in our city.

As a business owner, what keeps you up at night?

Thinking about more ways to connect with the community and finding creative ways to continue to brand Myles Select Vodka keeps me up at night, because I want to make sure that the brand is always presented in a positive way. There are many brands in the vodka arena. When you walk into a liquor store, there are a lot of options for consumers to choose from. I always think about how I can continue to build a base of repeat customers that will choose my brand above all of the other brands.

What’s the hardest part about being a business owner?

The hardest part of being a business owner is being able to understanding the complete package of putting the business into full production. It’s not only a dream of owning a brand, but understanding how to market, connect with the stores and venues, connect with consumers in person and via social media channels, and presenting myself and the product as a branded package. All the motivation and implementation depends on me and the company. I am thankful for my education and career experiences that helped me in the process. I have learned many lessons personally and professionally throughout the journey and I look forward to finding new ways to improve myself and the brand in the future.

What’s your favorite career moment?

My favorite career moment was walking into a local liquor store and seeing my brand on the shelf for consumers to purchase. Being able to meet with the consumers and telling them about the journey and my dream of owning my own liquor brand. Connecting with consumers and seeing the surprise and admiration on their faces that a brand could be built by a woman that lived in their community gave me a huge sense of pride that I was able to break into an industry that appeared to not be attainable.

What’s the best way to start your day?

The best way to start my day is to make a list of all the goals that I would like to accomplish for the day. This helps me to stay focused and complete my vision for the brand on a daily basis. If you don’t plan for success daily, your business will not grow to the levels of high success. The success of my business is always on the top of my mind.

How do you unwind after a long workday?

After a long day, I like to unwind with enjoying my brand, Myles Select Ultra Premium Vodka. It is best served chilled and helps me to relax. I enjoy the smooth taste of Myles Select Vodka and it doesn’t give you a harsh after taste or feeling the next day, so that I can continue to be successful the next day. Being able to enjoy my brand was one of the reasons why I created the brand.

Fill in the blank:

When I face a challenge, I... stop and try to think about the best solution before I take an action.

If I could go back in time, I would tell myself... to focus more on education. .

The one thing I couldn’t live without is… the love of family.

By this time next year, I will be… preparing for even more growth with Myles Select Vodka, Jerome Renae Cigars, Memphis Best BBQ Sauce and Red Oaks Distribution.

The best thing that happened to me recently was… facilitating a group meeting to help several teams to collaborate on an issue. The collaborative discussion and help that was provided was invaluable.

To get my creative juices flowing, I… turn off all electronics and sit in my house and focus on one idea at a time..

Myles Select Vodka

Myles Select Ultra-Premium Vodka was created from the idea of having a smooth, clean tasting vodka that can be consumed in a chilled form or as a premium base to any mixed spirit recipe. The smooth taste of Myles Select Ultra-Premium Vodka allows the consumer to enjoy the light, flavorful spirit made with grains. Myles Select Ultra-Premium Vodka has a distinct flavor that separates itself from other brands on the market. The attention to details when creating a small batch brand of Vodka allows you to enjoy the full flavor and remember the pleasant feel of the vodka.
