What inspired you to start your business?
I started my business during the pandemic of August 2020. I was looking for family bonding activities that we could do as a family at home to past the time during the shutdown due to COVID-19. We decided to create some candles, during that time. I realized while creating the candles that the activity was relaxing and very therapeutic for me. It has become my passion. My purpose in life is to serve people and my candle business provides me the opportunity to do just that.
What advice would you give to other women entrepreneurs?
I would tell other women entrepreneurs that whatever your passion is in life go after it and to “know your why” because this will provide the energy you need to thrive in your business. Also, I would say to other women entrepreneurs if you receive a “No” keep going because eventually someone will say “Yes.” Never give up on your vision and to see it to fruition.
What women inspire you?
Oprah Winfrey inspires me because she started from humble beginnings and her inspiring words keep me motivated to keep going and to be the best that I can be as a woman in business. One of her quotes that I love is “Doing the best at this moment puts you in the best place for the next moment.”
How has being a WBENC-Certified WBE helped your business?
As a WBENC-Certified WBE, I feel as though the certification has helped me to get selected for The Goldman Sachs One Million Black Women: In Business Program – Spring Cohort 2022. I will graduate from the Cohort on July 18, 2022. Also, it has helped my business get approved to have my Soy Wax Melts (vegan products) in The Sistah Shop at the Atlantic Station in Atlanta, GA. I am grateful for the opportunity to be WBENC-Certified WBE and l look forward to being recertified for the upcoming year.
