What inspired you to start your business?
I felt a burning desire to do more purposeful work that caused me to pivot to focus on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. I had challenges breaking into the field and decided to strike out on my path.
What advice would you give to other women entrepreneurs?
First, surround yourself with a successful squad that can help you stay the course. It is easy to give up and more challenging to continue the journey. You’ll need all the support you can get. Make the time for professional development. Learn how to be a CEO. Read books Traction and E-Myth.
How has being a WBENC-Certified WBE helped your business?
It has given me access to educational resources for running a successful business. I have also had the opportunity to build relationships with exceptional humans.
What’s the best piece of career advice you’ve ever received?
Your career is your responsibility. That advice has served me well. When I stray from the driver’s seat and take ownership of my career, I remember that phrase and double down to reach my goals.
How do you define success?
Success for me is seeing my message resonate. When I’m a witness to client transformation, I feel a great sense of pride. Success is also being able to take disconnected downtime without stressing about everything falling apart in my business. Therefore, having the financial freedom to secure the right resources for my business also signals success.
What’s your favorite career moment?
When I won the 100 Women of Color Award in 2021, I attended the event with my family. My 6-year-old daughter, at the time, went on stage with me to receive the award. She stole the show.
