Mad Gab’s started in Gabrielle Melchionda’s mother’s kitchen in 1991 in Amherst, Massachusetts. She was a college student looking for a lip balm that was neither greasy, nor waxy and made with good ingredients. Using beeswax from her neighbor, she made the initial batches with her mom, using $50 from her waitressing pouch. Gab went on to sell product from the trunk of her car, using the phone book and maps; the internet had not been invented
yet. Mad Gab’s was discovered by QVC in 1997 and went on to be featured in over 100 magazines and various news coverage and documentaries highlighting Gab’s entrepreneurial spirit and accomplishments. Mad Gab’s is currently located in Yarmouth Maine, selling lip balms to retailers large and small around the country. Gabrielle is proud to lead an all-woman staff (she calls the Mom Squad) of devoted women working together to help bring clean, organic lip balms to people everywhere!
